When something in our life is not as we want it to be, such as our weight or our health, we can either let it hold us down by expending energy not liking it and not wanting it or we can accept it as it is this moment and use our energy to make new and different choices now. It seems like accepting a situation that is negative or undesirable is giving in to it, but the fact is however things are right now is already how they are, whether we fight it or not! Our power to change comes from what we chose to do in this moment. Tolle is also quoted as saying “Worry pretends to be necessary but serves no useful purpose”. When we know it’s time for change, it happens one step at a time and it happens in the present moment, so that’s all we need to be concerned about. Accepting what is and moving forward. Worry, fear and doubt about whether we will succeed, whether we are strong enough or whether we really can make lasting change this time is pointless. It only hinders our progress and makes us feel bad. A healthy life is a journey and I am not just writing about our weight and body…it’s also about taking control of our thoughts and managing our self-talk so that all of us can experience the happiness and joy that we are entitled to each day.
