Hello Everyone!  Click the link to watch my very first video blog!  As you might guess from my appearance in the video, I really had no intention of posting it, but after recording it, I decided that it’s the real me and I said what I really wanted to say…so what the heck?   I’m hoping anyone taking the time to read my posts can relate to my challenges.  Let me know if you like the video format and if you would like to join me on my personal challenge.  It’s so much more fun to do it together!!!

Thank you, Terra, for always taking the time to be so open with all of us. You’re a model for so many, well-representing that life isn’t black and white — our brains are so much more complicated than that, taking us on journeys we didn’t plan to travel, and leaving us to make our way back. So many struggles we didn’t know we’d face, but that you and others help us find the strength to make our way through — and to understand that it will often be 2 steps forward and one step back…. Wishing you all the best, and know how much so many of us appreciate you. Hugs! 🙂

Wow, thank you so much for sharing, it was exactly what I needed to hear today! Before watching your video I was researching how to cancel my weight watchers subscription because I have not been following the plan for weeks or attending meetings. But now I am motivated to refocus and go to the meeting tomorrow! Thank you so much for reminding us that we are not alone in this journey!!

Great video blog, so nice to hear your voice.
I am back to WW meetings and have been at life time at least 3 times in the past 20 years or so but after awhile I start to gain if I don’t have the weigh in accountability. I exercise regularly and am programmed for low point meals but it seems like the older I get it takes more and more exercise. To be truthful I don’t enjoy it that much. I also find eliminating carbs very helpful.
I am working also on the challenge to get back to goal and keep my weight there for lifetime.

Yes Terra, I am in the 10 to 15 pound challenge with you and the others. Thanks for organizing this movement during the summer months. We will all be stronger, more empowered and confident as a result.

Terra congratulations on your first VLOG. What a great format as the emotion quotient is so easily relatable. For me getting to goal was hard fought and even though I was a slow loser, oftentimes just .5 a week, I got there and got below the highest allowable Lifetime WW goal for my height. Fast forward to now, two years later ( I still go to weekly meetings) and I am in the HUH where did this fifteen come from. I still exercise religiously, eat healthy but somewhere the “I did this, I lost the weight I should be able to keep it off because I lost it already” crept in. It is like you cannot believe it. You work so hard and there was no dramatic partying but slowly up it goes. I appreciate you opening up this forum. I will track food and activity because only constant vigilance keeps it down and keeps it off. Just because everyone seems to be able to eat what they want and not gain, sadly I cannot. The good thing, fifteen pounds is a lot easier to stare down than 50.

Loved the video!! Going through the same thing. No control. Set good intentions for the day but then just see and eat. Ugh! Just can’t seem to get back on track. Glad to know I’m not alone.

Wasn’t expecting this when I sat down to read emails. I am going through exactly what you are. I have been trying to figure out why in the last month I have no self control when the 3 months before didn’t even desire some of the food I’m eating now. I am a stress eater and feeling out of control. You saying it out loud just made it very real. I know what I need to do and feel inspired that someone else is going to push through this too. Thank you for being so open and honest and helping me confront my struggle. Let’s go take back control of our lives and the food we eat!!

    Hi Terra,
You’ve always been such an amazing inspiration to me, whether it was back from when you were leading a meeting or from your emails. Seeing you in your blog just feels so comfortable and put a smile on my face. Thank you for doing this for all of us and I look forward to seeing more!!

Thank you for sharing authentically! I am going through the same thing and I am so happy I watched it before I chose my lunch :). I, too, tend to eat out a lot and while my choices are not bad, I am probably eating too much (hard to break the clean plate club habits). Keep up the video blog- very helpful for accountability!

I think people should try not to worry so much about it. Live and forgive yourself and others.

Bless you! Your post hit me exactly where I am right now. I felt like you were talking just to me ! I used to be a rock about what I ate – I stuck to the rules for years and years. I don’t think I ate a cookie from 1980 to 2010 (yes, I’m old 🙂 and WW worked a miracle for me when I was in my 30’s). Now, no matter what my resolve at 8:00 am, it falls apart whenever an opportunity presents itself. I’m baffled by this and refuse to accept that I no longer have will power…yet, facts are facts. I don’t have that control anymore, and I’m so frustrated with myself. A small help for me was cutting out carbs. Somehow carbs make me very hungry a few hours after I eat. Now the daily afternoon cravings for sweets are gone. My downfall happens when I’m out with friends, or family member brings home a treat. Then there are no depths to which I will not fall :-).
The ability to look a ‘forbidden’ food in the eye and walk away – that’s what I want again! But I have no clue how I lost this, or how to get it back.
Thank you for your honest post. It really got me thinking, and I’m hopeful again!

Thanks for being so open and honest. It’s like you are living in my world. I struggle with the same issue. Ever since I went back to work full time and the girls have become so involved in activities, I have not had time to attend WW meetings and guess what? My weight as slowly increased. I also don’t have issues with my activity level. I work out regularly and am always walking my dog, Toby. It really just comes down to what I put in my mouth!!!
You were such an inspiration to me back when I attending WW meetings regularly and lost 40 lbs. Now I’m optimistic that together with you I can get my eating back IN CONTROL and lose those 15 POUNDS.

It is wonderful that you are so open and honest and share OUT LOUD what most of us are going through and struggling to make it work. And you hit the nail on the head every time. Most of us are not eating for hunger reasons, but for other reasons that only we each know and that only each of us can change for ourselves. Best wishes for continued success to you and all of us who look to you for guidance.

Thank you for such an honest video. I LOVE the format. It’s more real to me even though I also love your written blog entries. The “see it, want it, eat it” routine is totally mine! I want to switch to a new routine of “see it, want it, make a better choice” – no regrets! I’m joining the challenge Terra! Looking forward to future vlogs!

So glad you decided to post this! I like the format. A lot. Please keep doing these.

It is an ongoing, lifelong challenge and struggle, and you articulate that really well. I’m with you!

My only quibble is that I had a little trouble hearing you, even with my volume cranked up all the way. (I know your kids were asleep, so you were speaking softly.)

    Thank you, Terra.

Going through EXACTLY the same thing. You’re so right…it’s the control piece much more than the numbers. Some of my behaviors…totally worth it. Others, not so much. I’m in a place right now where my “me time” has been significantly cut down. All good things…summer activities with kids mostly…but other than indulging myself with not-so-point-friendly foods, I’m not in a position to do a whole lot for myself. Indulgence becomes the norm and thus the cycle begins.

I’m with you on gaining control. I finally did a grocery store haul and meal planning for the week (hasn’t happened for the last two weeks) and feel prepared to be more aware and make better choices. Let’s do this!
