We put a great deal of effort into striving to be “good” or to “better ourselves” or to be our “best self” which of course, are noble goals and seem to be worthy of our effort. But in our quest to be good, better or best, what happens to who we are right now, in THIS very moment?
Personally, I find it all too easy to lose sight of the fact that I really am enough just as I am today. When I’m reminded of it, my first reaction is to question it and actually argue it in my head. “But I should do more of this and less of that and be more like so and so.” But what if we STOP and quiet those thoughts and just let ourselves BE ENOUGH for today? What do you think would happen?
For me, it calms me down, it centers me in Spirit and most of all, it allows me to feel joyful. When I’m not reminding myself of my faults and what I “should be like” a lightness overcomes me and it feels like relief. I believe this is the state we are all meant to live in each day….many of us have just forgotten it in our quest to reach the goals. The funny thing is, when I’m in this state, I act much more in line with my goals with a lot less effort! Have you noticed this to be true for yourself too?
Let’s not wait until we are at certain weight to allow ourselves to feel we are enough. Or wait until we have achieved some certain status or accomplishment. You really are more than enough just as you are in this moment, as you read these words. Take a second right now to pause and think about it. Let it sink in. How does it make you feel? When you hear it or read it, can’t you feel the truth of it deep down inside? You really are enough right now and so am I. Isn’t that exciting?? Don’t talk yourself out of it.
