The Weight of the Weight
The weight of the negative emotions that can accompany being overweight are as heavy if not even heavier than any amount of weight we could ever carry on our bodies. It’s not about the food. It’s not about will power. It’s not about want power. It’s not about working out. At it’s core, it’s about our relationship with ourselves and how that relationship affects what we think, how we feel and what we do when it comes to every aspect of our lives, food included.
It’s easy to think that once the weight is gone, then we will love ourselves. But my personal journey along with the twenty plus years of experience I have in helping people get healthy and stay healthy I can say with 100% certainty, it’s the opposite. When we take the time and have the courage to suspend self judgement and get curious about who we are, the choices we make and why, the whole dynamic changes.
I love helping people lose weight and get healthy and that STARTS with gratitude and loving ourselves for who we truly are now. THEN we are able and even joyful about making the changes that result in weight loss. When we do it in this order, the weight loss lasts! It’s livable, it’s sustainable and it fits our livestyle.
Our wellness is truly a journey of self discovery and along that journey we can enjoy the behavior changes we are making and learning who we are and who we want to be as we move into each stage of our lives. Small changes add up to big, big success and it happens quickly when we adopt an attitude of progress not perfection!
