I know this sounds a little crazy, but trust me when I say it’s DELISH! Until you try it, you really don’t know what you’re missing!
The banana split was always a childhood favorite of mine, but it is so over the top I haven’t had one in YEARS! The first time I made this, it felt like the real thing, and immediately satisfied my nostalgic craving!!
Some recipe notes: Personally, I like very finely chopped peanuts the best, but of course almond slivers or chopped walnuts will work great too. I haven’t tried it, but I imagine pistachios would also be fantastic! If you’re missing the salty taste of more nuts, hit it with a tiny pinch of sea salt.
Another yummy variation is to use caramel or butterscotch syrup instead of chocolate. Just make sure to MEASURE. A tablespoon of chocolate syrup really is enough to give you great flavor. Eye-balling a serving as you pour can be dangerous and result in healthy “ice cream-less banana split gone bad” and we don’t want that!
