Sometimes we think we want something so badly, such as weight loss or “hitting a certain number” on the scale, that we think we actually NEED it and might not survive without it. As if we may go crazy if it doesn’t happen. I can certainly relate to that feeling, but I’m learning more and more not only from my personal experiences, but from all of yours, that sometimes the pressure and tension we put on ourselves is actually what’s keeping us from getting what we want. Who we are today, right now, in this moment, is perfect. It is! It’s absolutely perfect for this moment. It is what is, so relax into it. We don’t HAVE to be a certain weight or accomplish a certain goal to prove our worth. It’s great that we want to live a healthy, balanced lifestyle at a healthy weight and we have have every right to do that as the people we are RIGHT NOW. When we let go of the tension and the pushing and the yearning that constantly nags us to work harder to be someone different, we can relax into who we are right now and make the healthy choices that need to be made. Who we are this moment is just fine and getting to our weight goals is just as much about the journey as it is the destination. The sooner we can accept ourselves as we are now with gratitude and joy, the sooner we will be able to see our quality of life improve. When we feel better we do better. When we feel great, we do great things and they seem a lot easier and more enjoyable.
